"Teachers think they're being understanding, but they're, like, false when they take it too far. We don't see being nice as such a good thing in a new teacher-you need to establish your authority"
(pg. 167)
This quote from "Fires in the Bathrooms" is saying that teachers lose some of their authority if and when they try to be to understanding and try friends with their students. I feel that it is very important to establish your authority as a teacher the very first day. It is much easier to start out strict and loosen up as the year goes on than to start out soft, and try to tighten the reigns. I feel it that this bit of advice is very good for me because i don't like when I am disliked, but I know i must establish my authority in the very beginning to be successful.
"In ninth grade science, two times a week we went out to clean up a park with a pond in it. We leaned about fish and the environment" (Pg. 176)
This quote is telling teachers that it is important to take learning outside of the classrooms. It is very effective to get student out of the classroom, and bring the textbook to life...As a P.E. teacher i will often be outside with my students, and often not in a regular classroom, however i plan to take my students to various fitness centers to teach them about fitness. It is important to get students out of their regular class setting in order to make learning fun and interesting, and to keep the students interested in the material.

"Culture of Success"
Q: Based on Ch. 4 in "Fires in the Bathroom" how do you intend to create a "culture of success" for you future students?
I found many suggestions in this chapter will be very useful to me as a future teacher, but two really stood out to me.
1. "Don't favor the students you think will do the best" (Pg. 66)
As a future physical education teacher i believe this suggestion is very important. I remember in high school the best students (most athletic) would always be chosen to pick the teams for a given activity. I also thought like the other students were turned off by this. As a physical education teacher I plan to have anyone and everyone be the leader of a team. I believe it is important to take on leadership skills; especially for those who normally do not have any experience in leading a group of people. I really think that it will be a boost for the confidence of those who thought they could not lead a team to do so.
2. "Encourage our efforts even if we are having trouble" (Pg. 64)
Too often students in P.E. classes give up on themselves because they feel like they are not good or athletic enough. As a future P.E. teacher i plan to constantly encourage those who feel as though they have inferior skills. They give up on themselves and often lose interest in any kind of physical activity. This can't happen. It is my job to be sure that students enjoy physical activity so that they do not bring poor habits of a lack of activity in adulthood. I want my students to want to be active and enjoy being active. I believe i can do this by making everyone in the class feel special. A touchdown in P.E. class to a football player means nothing, but to someone else it may feel like scoring in the Superbowl.

Bloom's Taxonomy
Q: In your own words illustrate 5 reasons Bloom's taxonomy could be useful to the preparations of your content area learning objectives, activities, and plan assessments.
My content area is physical and health education. The are countless reasons Bloom's taxonomy could be useful. I am going to talk about 5 in no particular order.
1. In order to understand exercise, and realize it importance you must understand the muscles of the body, and furthermore the movements the muscles make. As a physical educator I can teach my student not only the exercises, and muscles but also the movements and why each muscle works. After they have the KNOWLEDGE I can let them be on there own to apply that knowledge during class.
2. In a taxonomy you cant know move up to the next level without knowing the one before it. That being said I understand that i must give my students the knowledge before they can comprehend it or apply it. Therefore in a unit plan the first set of lessons would aim towards knowledge and move up with time towards evaluation.
3. In a physical education class where a sport is being played it is imperative that the students have knowledge and comprehension of that sport. Furthermore to be a master of the sport you must be able to analyze the sport, and formulate game plans. This would go towards the assessment of my students. Those who can analyze and synthesize will receive more points then those who cannot.
4/5. When generating lesson plans my objects for the lesson will be set towards a particular level of Bloom's taxonomy. If i am teaching and want students to have the knowledge and comprehension the lesson objective would be much different than if i wanted the students to apply knowledge, or analyze situations. Furthermore the activities that i plan for the class will differ greatly depending of which level of Bloom's taxonomy my lesson is geared towards.
